Forestry Students from the University of Palermo Visit the FSC®-Certified Cork Oak Forest in Tempio Pausania

At the end of May, a group of 20 students from the Forestry programme at the University of Palermo visited our FSC®-certified cork oak forest in Montesu, in the countryside surrounding Tempio Pausania.

Accompanied by Professor Donato Salvatore La Mela Veca and Salvatore Mele, Director of Forestas in Tempio Pausania, the students were guided through the forest by our agronomist, Andrea Martinez. During the visit, he explained the cork stripping process and the importance of the FSC®-certified supply chain.

The group then toured the Sugherificio Molinas production facility, where they had the opportunity to discover the entire manufacturing process behind our natural cork stoppers, following every stage from the cork oak tree to the finished product.

The visit provided valuable hands-on learning and helped raise awareness of sustainable forest management, while also fostering dialogue with the next generation of forestry professionals, who will play a key role in preserving this unique natural heritage.
