Tenuta di Bagnolo, 400 new cork oak seedlings planted

Environmental protection has always been one of the activities that we pursue with greater strength and conviction because nature is our home, it is where we created our whole world.

Precisely as part of a broad path of sustainable development that has involved us for several years now, we have planted 400 cork seedlings in the Tenuta di Bagnolo (one of our lands located in Tuscany) to replace with a cork forest the wood consisting of a pine forest strongly attacked by Matsucoccus feytaudi, the cochineal of the maritime pine.

The Tenuta di Bagnolo has been part of our properties since 2000. Here, in addition to the traditional activities - such as the cutting of the coppice, the preparation of coal, the removal of the heather log, the harvest of chestnuts, the activities of wild grazing, hunting and much more - interventions were carried out to encourage the development and improvement of areas dedicated to cork oak, the primary resource around which our production activity develops.

The planting of the new seedlings is a project that is part of the PSR (Regional Development Plan), approved and financed with funds allocated by the European Community and Tuscany Region. The works included the thinning of the pine forests, the partial clearing of the areas subject to intervention and the planting of the cork seedlings, including the affixing of a wooden stake and a shelter to defend against attacks by the wildlife and the installation of irrigation system.

Our hope, with this operation, is to have contributed to the recovery of a wooded area that is irremediably damaged, to return to the territory a healthy, active green lung and a source of economic development.
