E’ A NEW ERA BEGAN FOR THE CORK STOPPERS

After years of research, Molinas cork factory carried out a new and innovative treatment for the cork stoppers. It is an industrial process based on chemical-physical parameters, with the aim to dynamize the volatile compounds , allowing their volatilization and removal up to the heart of the cork, without altering the structural features and without residues of chemical substances the analyses and the assays carried out ,underline that the treated cork stopper have a perfect resistance to the compression, elastic recovery, capillarity and absorption). The production processing makes use of an innovative treatment based on the action of steam, activated in modulated in cycles of pressure and vacuum at defined temperatures. applied on „treated“ cork stoppers on which has been activated the dynamization of the volatile compounds. This system is implemented on all the semi-finished and finished products (cork grains, discs and natural cork stoppers) with specific doses for every product. On the basis of the researches and tests, an average reduction of the TCA content equal to 70% have been analytically measured, with the Gas Masse, on maceration extracts, and confirmed with organoleptic tests. The incidence of the cork taint is lowered to really negligible levels.

The treatment developed by Molinas research department, is an added value to the cork stoppers quality, an innovation that allows to reach an extreme cork stoppers „cleanliness“, with excellent results as for the cork taint and the various mould taints. The research, the engagement, the efforts made by Molinas continuously addressed to innovation and improvement, promise to reach optimum results along the road leading to the production of cork stoppers free from taints and anomalous deviations.
